RESEARCH
Problem, Research, Build and Implement at Shikha
The unique positioning of research at Shikha addresses critical gaps in the Indian educational research landscape. We deeply understand research problems in the Indian K-12 ecosystem from our school, conduct research the the institute, and build products in our lab. The entire design thinking process happens under one roof.
RESEARCH PHILOSOPHY
At the Shikha Institute, our research philosophy is rooted in systems thinking—fixing the complex, interconnected system of education cannot be through a collection of isolated interventions. We view educational challenges as multidimensional problems that require aligned, adaptive and scalable strategies.
The systemic challenges in Indian education research are characterized by fragmentation, where academic research, school practices, and technological innovations exist in disconnected silos.
Shikha has been intentionally designed as an integrated problem-solving system. By co-locating the research institute (Shikha Institute), the experimental school (Shikha Academy), and the technology company (Shikha Labs) within the same premises, we have created a dynamic organisation where theoretical insight, practical implementation, and technological innovation continuously interact, iterate, and evolve. This trans-disciplinary approach breaks the traditional boundaries between research, practice and technological development.

EXTERNAL RESEARCHERS
Interested in conducting research at Shikha Academy? We extend a call to educational institutions, not-for-profit organizations, and researchers worldwide to collaborate on transformative research across multiple domains of education.
Educational datasets within the Indian context are often missing due to several systemic and structural challenges. At Shikha we are excited to sharing our educational data sets for research purposes, such as student portfolios, multi-modal assessments, classroom observations, classroom videos and so on.
